Denise Penn, Editor in Chief

Denise Penn is a Southern California-based journalist who has covered issues for the LGBT and HIV-affected community for nearly two decades. While an investigative reporter for the Blade Newsmagazine, her coverage of hate crimes became part of Congressional records. She served as News Editor for the Lesbian News and has contributed to In Los Angeles Magazine, EDGE, and many others. She is also a clinical social worker and brings that perspective to her articles. She produced and hosted an award-winning community television program in Long Beach, California for 12 years.

Mike Szymanski, Columnist

Mike Szymanski has written about bisexual issues since 1998 and has one of the longest-running regular bisexual columns as the National Bisexuality Examiner. He came out as bisexual in a cover story of Genre magazine, which resulted in more than 50 television appearances, including Ricki Lake, Phil Donahue Show and 20/20. Szymanski won the Lambda Literary Award in 2007 for co-authoring an informative humor book “The Bisexual’s Guide to the Universe: Quips, Tips and Lists for Those Who Go Both Ways.”

Anil Vora, Contributing Writer

Anil Vora is based in Seattle, Washington and is a regular contributor to Bi Magazine. As a result of his series of articles about bisexuality in India, written exclusively for Bi Magazine, the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs included bisexual content in their development of a global charter on LGBT rights. He has been a queer activist for more than three decades starting with HIV prevention, treatment, and advocacy issues and is now focusing on the health and wellness of LGBTQ elders.

A.J. Walkley, Contributing Writer

A.J. Walkley earned a B.A. in literature from Dickinson College in 2007 before heading into the U.S. Peace Corps as a health volunteer in Malawi, Africa. Upon her return to the States, she became a United Nations correspondent and freelance writer working out of New York City. Walkley has three novels to her name: Choice (2009), Queer Greer (2012) and Vuto (2013). She currently resides in Phoenix, Arizona and is working on a novel based on the life of a Texas inmate she believes to be wrongfully incarcerated.

Dr. Herukhuti, Contributing Writer

Dr. Herukhuti is a professor of interdisciplinary studies at Goddard College. He is the founder and CEO of the Center for Culture, Sexuality and Spirituality and editor-in-chief of sacredsexualities.org. His work has been published and anthologized in various academic and popular contexts including Sexualities, Journal of Bisexuality, ARISE Magazine, and Ma-Ka Diasporic Juks: Contemporary Writings by Queers of African Descent. He is co-editor of Recognize: The Voices of Bisexual Men—An Anthology and Sexuality, Religion and the Sacred: Bisexual, Pansexual and Polysexual Perspectives. He is also a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Bisexuality.

BiMagazine, is an online project of the American Institute of Bisexuality (AIB) that provides an outlet for art, literature, and bi-related features.
