Lady Gaga - Still Bisexual

ladygaga_main.jpgWith so many pop stars coming out as bisexual for publicity, it's hard to separate the true queer voices from the drone of posturing princesses. We're hoping that Lady Gaga is the real deal.

Now teetering on the edge of overexposure, the openly bisexual performer, songwriter, and style maven has continued to release songs written expressly for the queer community.

Her latest ditty, "Born This Way," steals a few bars from Madonna's "Express Yourself" but takes it a step further telling queer peeps not to express themselves but accept themselves:

"No matter gay, straight, or bi,

Lesbian, transgendered life

I'm on the right track baby

I was born to survive"

How nice it is, as a bisexual person, to have the "b" not forgotten or left out. The key explanation for this is Gaga's sexuality.

For those of you who missed it, Lady Gaga came out formally as a fellow fencesitter in a December 2009 television interview with Barbara Walters. Her song "Poker Face" on her album "The Fame" had raised questions about her orientation because of a lyric in which Gaga said she was "bluffing" with her "muffin." Gaga admitted the song is about fantasizing about women while being with a man.

When asked about her orientation, she told Walters, "I do like women." But she added that she only falls in love with men. Earlier that year in aRolling Stone interview, Gaga had stated that her relationships with women are purely physical. Nonetheless, her attraction to the fairer sex makes her boyfriends insecure. She told the magazine, "I'm into women. They're all intimidated by it. It makes them uncomfortable."

Gaga has made other proclamations. In reference to the Pussycat Dolls, she told DJ Ron Slomowicz in anAbout.com interview, "I love a girl in her underwear, first of all."

She also told queer magazine HX in August 2008 that she's boy crazy, and girl crazy. "It really depends on where I am. I love men, I love women, and I love sex."

As nice as it is to have a female celebrity be so vocal about sex with both sexes, wouldn't it be lovely for once to have one of these bisexual pop stars madly profess their love of, well, love? Wouldn't it add a certain credibility and gravitas to the whole being bi thing?

But ultimately, I can't knock Gaga for only having a sexual connection with women. After all, some bisexuals don't fall in love with both sexes. And besides, she was named one of the World's Most Powerful Celebrities inForbes magazine last June. How many bisexuals can we say that about?ladygaga_image200.jpg
